Platform provider expands global footprint with UK Office opening

Leading multi-channel sports betting and casino platform provider Digitain has announced that it has opened a new UK regional office in Sheffield to support Digitain’s international growth plan. The opening of the Digitain office complements the city of Sheffield’s continued development as a leading city for driving business and innovation.

The new office will be led by Simon Westbury as Head of the International Development Department. The new office will provide localised client-facing and account-management services in support of Digitain’s wider international growth plan, with new offices being planned in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Simon’s key short-term role will be to drive business in the UK and ensure that Digitain remains at the forefront of the sports betting market.

Simon Westbury, Head of International Business Development at Digitain, added: “I am delighted to be leading Digitain’s drive into the UK and wider regulated markets. Digitain is a company which is a market leader in the gaming industry and, in keeping with our business principles of being as close to our partners as possible, the opening of a UK office is an exciting development in helping us achieve our aims.”

The office opening follows a particularly productive year for Digitain, which has seen it expand its global footprint from Europe, through Asia and on to Africa and LatAm, with the industry’s most flexible, scalable and efficient sports betting platform.

Its sportsbook product covers 65 sports, taking in 7,500 leagues, and offers more than 3,000 betting markets. It also offers odds on 35,000 live events each month, while its casino solution has 3,000-plus games from major casino suppliers (such as Novomatic, Microgaming, NetEnt and Playson).

Background on Simon Westbury:

Simon has worked in the gaming industry for the last 12 years. He started in the business when he created and produced the Gaming Executive Summit (GES) which has now become the World Gaming Executive Summit and is in its 13 year. At its formation, GES was a senior level C-Suite executive conference that drew the industry’s leading CEOs to discuss challenges and opportunities for the industry.

Witnessing the vibrancy of the industry first-hand at GES, Simon decided to take the plunge into the supplier side of the gaming sector. After a short time in payments, he took a role at Chartwell Games, selling casino software. During his time with Chartwell, they were bought by Amaya Gaming. As part of his subsequent role at Amaya, Simon became the director of online sales and strategy. Advising the board and CEO David Bazoov that the company should refocus its efforts on platform provision. As part of this strategy, Simon was involved in corporate transactions relating to Cryptologic and Ongame as Amaya strived to become a turnkey platform supplier.

On leaving Amaya, Simon stayed within the gaming sector, working for Betsoft Gaming and most recently VSoftCo. At VSoftCo, Simon was the Chief Commercial Officer, leading all commercial, marketing and product development. Additionally, due to the owner of VSoftCo owning Sheffield United Football club, Simon was in charge of all off-field business decisions at the club for the 2015/ 16 season.
