A sportsbook may price both sides at 1.90. Each price implies a probability of 52.63%. Together, the implied probabilities produce a 105.26% book. The amount above 100% is the overround: 5.26 percentage points.
The normalised theoretical margin is 5.00% of turnover. If £50 is staked on each side, the sportsbook accepts £100 in total stakes and pays £95 on the winning side. The theoretical gross win is £5, or 5% of turnover.
