As players who played in LaLiga for the majority of your careers, what have you made of the title race in the division this season, especially the fairytale story of Girona? 

Luís Figo: I think this year they are doing amazing, a big surprise to everyone, but, if you see the way they perform, how they play, the enthusiasm, the quality, it’s not a big surprise. Until now, of course, they are having an amazing year. Let’s see next Saturday will be a big game in Madrid, Real Madrid against Girona. I think it can open a little bit more what’s going to happen until the end of the of the season. But in general, they have to be very happy for the performance they have shown until now. 

Míchel Salgado: Well, I think we were really lucky to win LaLiga sometimes, actually four, I don’t know how many I think we won, but the reality is that this year it has been a surprising year. Of course Real Madrid I think they are doing really well, especially with the depth of the squad and I think all the players coming off the bench are the ones right now performing and making sure that Ancelotti is a great coach, but he is able to manage the squad and it doesn’t matter what and then the surprise is Girona.

You know, it’s coming from the City Group, Pep Guardiola probably is the one handling the situation. And to be honest, we can see so many exciting players that you don’t know right now, that we’re surely gonna see them in the future in big teams in Europe. But the most important thing is that what they are doing, they are playing very exciting football and let’s see what happens. But this weekend can be a gamechanger. 

As we are in London, I have to ask you about the Premier League title race and what your thoughts are on that. I’m an Arsenal fan if that helps your answer! 

Luís Figo: The Premier League is one of the best competitions right now in terms of domestic leagues. There are so many clubs always fighting for the championship. So, this year, Liverpool is doing well, Manchester City is always there and you have other teams and the big two, Arsenal. So, it’s always good to have that competition and let’s see, this moment Liverpool is in the best position to win. But there’s still a lot to come. 

Míchel Salgado: Well, the Premier League is a real entertaining league. Actually, I played three years at Blackburn Rovers. I love the Premier League and actually I came late, I should have come a little earlier to a year more and to try to win it. But at my time, 35 when I came, it was tough, but I enjoyed it so much, the Premier League. I was close to come to Chelsea actually, everything was done.

Míchel Salgado: But in the end, my love for Real Madrid, it played a big thing and I think it was Zidane actually, trying to keep me in Real Madrid. But anyway regarding this year as always, the Premier League is so tough because winning games every weekend in and out is complicated. And it’s very entertaining, very thrilling for everybody and for sure, Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal are gonna be there until the last second to try to win it.

So, all the fans around the world are gonna enjoy it. And don’t forget that Aston Villa as well with another Spanish coach is doing fantastic this year.

Digitain has marked the second consecutive year of its partnership with Portuguese former footballer Luis Figo, who will continue to work as a brand ambassador for the firm.

Figo will maintain his brand ambassador responsibilities for another year going into 2024, playing a role in promoting and enhancing the image of Digitain’s brand via appearances at industry trade events.

The Armenia-based sports betting solutions provider first partnered with Figo – who appeared for the Portuguese national team, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan throughout his career – was first inked last year.

Figo remarked: “I am delighted to continue my collaboration with Digitain, a company that shares my unwavering passion for excellence. Over the past year, I’ve witnessed their commitment to innovation and their drive to push the boundaries in the igaming industry. 

“I eagerly anticipate another year of collaboration and contributing to Digitain’s ongoing global success. Digitain has become my second family, and I’m honoured to be a part of this exceptional team.”

In a similar fashion to when his agreement with Digitan was signed last year, Figo made an appearance at Digitain’s headquarters in Armenian capital Yerevan this week.

Building on the first year of the deal and on a range of commercial achievements over the past 12 months, such as launching its Paydrom payments platform and opening a new European HQ in Bucharest, Digitain aims to keep its foot on the pedal.

The company stated that it intends to maintain momentum on its ambition to deliver “state-of-the-art gaming solutions, captivating user experiences, and innovative technology that continues to set new industry standards”.

Digitain’s founder, Vardges Vardanyan, added:  “Having Luis Figo as our Brand Ambassador has been an incredible journey. His dedication to excellence, professionalism, and values are a perfect match for Digitain’s ethos. We’re thrilled to continue this partnership and further elevate our brand on the global stage.”

Former football star Luis Figo has extended his collaboration with Digitain for a second year.

Figo, who joined forces with the company in July last year as a brand ambassador, will continue to promote Digitain and enhance the brand’s visibility at various trade shows scheduled for the rest of this year and into 2024.

The 50-year-old, who played for Barcelona and his native Portugal, said he has witnessed Digitain’s “commitment to innovation and their drive to push the boundaries in the igaming industry” since becoming a brand ambassador.
