SoloAzar: Digitain’s Succesful Performance at iGB L!VE, Amsterdam

24 July 2023 / Interviews

What were the expectations and objectives of the firm for this event in Amsterdam, the Netherlands?

Digitain’s key objectives were to meet existing partner operators from Continental Europe and new partners looking for alternative platform solutions.

The show is a key attend for Digitain, given the number of European operators that visit it, and it provides our brand an opportunity to present our solutions as we expand in the European region.

Which were the main products that the company exhibited at this fair?

Our GLI-certified, award-winning sportsbook is our marquee product, available across desktop, mobile, and retail channels. Given the depth of our betting content, sports betting is the leading product in most continental European countries. The Digitain Sportsbook product covers 100 sports, taking in 15,000 leagues, and offers more than 3,000 betting markets. It also offers odds on 100,000 live events each month, 70,000 pre-match events, and 30,000+ monthly eSports events. Other core features include an AI-powered product recommendation engine, a 2-goal early payout promo, an Odds Feed, our Sportsbook Jackpot, our Live Score and Stats module, and a Live Match Tracker, all of which are encompassing solutions for any operator focused on the European market.

How was the public feedback on the products you presented?

As a company and business, we put our partners, suppliers, and team at the centre of everything we do. Therefore, we always listen closely to partners’ requirements and design the optimal solution for those goals.

We are pleased with the feedback on our sportsbook, and our sales teams had a busy meeting schedule, and the stand was full every day of the show. Our team is now following up with all our visitors and we look forward to welcoming them soon to the Digitain platform.

What is your opinion about the progress of iGaming across Europe compared to land-based gaming?

Land-based gaming is prevalent across Europe, and it’s almost part of a tradition that players can choose or select to play in the betting shop, online, or via mobile. Brands need to consider all the channels to connect with their prospective customers, and land-based provides another means to build trust and confidence with the operator. Of course, online can flourish independently, but it depends on each market and how you wish to operate to grow market share.

What is the company’s presence in this local market?

We recently opened our office in the beautiful city of Bucharest, Romania, and as we continue to expand across Europe, the business will look to more regional office support locations.

Post-event reflection: could you comment on the demands of the sector within the local market and its difference compared to markets in other latitudes/LATAM?

Market demands are primarily similar across the regions. The critical questions you ask as an operator are whether the technology meets regulatory and technical standards within that region or country.

Of course, content, UI /UX, and payments must be localised to provide the best possible experience to attract new players to the platform, all of which Digitain’s sportsbook can deliver.

Attention to detail and listening to partners are essential, and a thorough understanding of the nuances of each market segment. We have been providing technology solutions for more than 20 years, so we can use that knowledge to help partners enter and scale within an existing market.

What final results did the company achieve in terms of business opportunities during the 4 days of the fair?

Digitain’s pipeline is very encouraging, and we always enjoy attending industry shows. We have a few more to participate in before the end of this year and look forward to announcing some exciting new commercial partnerships in the not-too-distant future.

SBC News: Digitain’s Iain Hutchison: Understanding the Influence of Technology

12 July 2023 / Interviews

SBC: Rarely does a day go by when the news does not include a story about new developments in technology, whether that be related to AI, the metaverse or blockchain. How well has the betting industry utilised these innovations, and what long-term potential do they offer?

Iain Hutchison (Chief Revenue Officer @ Digitain): New technologies and direct-to-consumer supply chains should always be evaluated as to the practical benefits to the end customer and the business.

Some theorists postulate that AI is front and centre, given that it could replace us as mere carbon-based life forms. As a company, we already embrace AI in specific parts of the business, such as risk management, fraud, and bonus prevention; the models can evaluate large data sets quickly for pattern detection and, thus, intervention strategies.

AI can also be applied to routine processes and, therefore, can be automated in certain parts of QA testing and virtual testing of user journeys.

Metaverse is perhaps a little away, given the overhype. Still, the basis of creating a digital experience is a sound one, and it shall be interesting to see with the launch of Vision Pro by Apple how consumers interact with digital services for augmented and virtual reality via the headset can reinvigorate the concept of metaverse 2.0.

SBC: The huge leaps forward in technology seen in recent times have run parallel to the spread of regulation in the sports betting industry; how has that influenced the development of the latest generation of sportsbook products?

IH: As a long-standing sports betting provider, we welcome regulatory change and the frameworks and implications to the underlying supply chain.

In terms of how we evaluate that into our technology methodology is really to understand what the regulation wishes to achieve. In broad terms, it is about consumer protection and providing practical tools that the player has more choice and, therefore, control. Once you understand the outputs or endpoints, you can work backward on the customer journey to implement the measures needed.

Regulation, of course, needs to be balanced, and there by all stakeholders. Still, consumers nowadays are very aware of their digital privacy rights and how digital services work, and therefore expect companies to be more aware of market sentiment and, of course, regulatory legal obligations.

SBC: How does this latest generation of sportsbook technology help operators to react more quickly to developments such as the introduction of new regulatory regimes or major sporting events?

IH: The core technology is modular and adaptive, as against solutions of old, which were very rigid, hard-coded, and inflexible, whereby a change request may take months, never mind a pipeline enhancement.

The tech stack now allows, if you like, more control by the partner operator to localise content via front-end headless CMS and integrate third-party solutions. For example, Digitain has multiple odds feed endpoints, which allows the partner to be specific on its odds pricing, margin, and risk management – thus providing more control over the revenue drivers for the business.

SBC: Discussions about sportsbook technology often focus on issues such as speed and data, while overlooking core functionality that every online business needs? How does Digitain assist its operator partners with areas such as CRM and CMS?

IH: Digitain’s CRM system supports the storage and centralises all the player data gathered from various omnichannel inbound marketing channels. For example, players’ conversations, user preferences, key performance indicators, and operator decisions can all be accessed via the CRM dashboard.

Our flexible query builder tool allows analysis of the data stored in the CRM system to be available to the CRM’s marketing team for reporting, targeting, and segmentation. Information about Players, betting preferences, transactions, and the promotions players have taken part in are all included within the data lake or warehouse, which can be queried.

CRM marketing departments can therefore undertake quantitative data mining to more qualitative forms of analysis like pattern recognition and behavioural predictions. On top of this sits our AI-powered recommendation and player-behaviour prediction algorithms. This allows the operator to provide the players with the most relevant and engaging content.

SBC: While great UX and a broad product offering are undoubtedly key factors in player retention, customer surveys consistently find that the ability to swiftly deposit and withdraw funds is the most important thing to bettors. How does Digitain help operators to achieve this in new markets?

IH: Payments are vital to any business and the movement of cash in and out of the platform. With a robust payment experience and solution, operators can acquire, retain, and reactivate their player base.

Paydrom, which is our payment solution, is a centralised payment management system. We have 400+ payment options, 50+ providers, and over 30 countries covered. It helps operators streamline their day-to-day operational payment processes.

SBC: What does Digitain have planned for the next 12 months? Is there anything exciting on the product roadmap that you can tell us about?

IH: We shall continue to expand our multi-jurisdictional reach across continental Europe, as we recently opened our Romania Head office. The business already holds licences and certifications in Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom.

On the product side, we continue to look at automation and efficiencies, whether using AI-based methodology and models, especially on risk management and odds/event creation.

And we’re committed to putting our partner operators at the centre of the product development cycle so that we provide the optimal localised market solution that they need to run their business operations.

SoloAzar: High Flying Hours, and Plenty of Energy and Enthusiasm for Digitain at Sigma Americas, Brazil

26 June 2023 / Interviews

How did you experience the five days of the tradeshow and how it was the firm´s performance?

Our team travelled thousands of miles to attend the SiGMA show. While we had a lot of travel, our energy and enthusiasm to meet existing and new partners was very high.

The team worked hard, and we have several new deals in the pipeline that we are excited about and will announce in the months ahead.

What were the topics that most caught your attention during the event?

As always, with a show like this, there are always topics of interest. From Digitain’s perspective, we had a lot of interest in our sportsbook solution due to its capability to localise content on the front end and configure markets, odds, and margins to allow the brand to offer the most vigorous depth of product, but at the same time ensure robust trading margin controls.

The other product of interest was Paydrom, our payment gateway. Payment preferences can change as brands reach different markets and areas within a country. Therefore, having a solution via a single API endpoint integration solves many operational overheads for the operator.

Paydrom allows a centralised payment management system with 50+ providers, 400+ payment options, and over 30 countries covered, and it streamlines the day-2-day operational payment flows for the Latam market.

Considering that in Brazil, gambling is not yet regularized, what are the company’s perspectives on this debate?

As a business that supplies various partners globally in regulated markets, we support regulation within the supply chain. From a technical perspective our software is GLI-certified, and we have many features such as the Tax engine automated management system for regulatory reporting.

Digitain was also recently awarded licenses in the regulated jurisdictions of Romania and Greece, and we shall continue to monitor the Brazilian situation closely.

Why are you interested in the Brazilian market and what are your company’s plans for the Brazilian market?

This is a fascinating and dynamic market with homegrown Operators breaking through and making waves. That said, the new regulation may leave the market with a rarified group of international Operators or only those financially equipped to pay the high license fees. That said, the tax regime proposed doesn’t appear too egregious. Still, it will be imperative that any new entrant to the market has the richest possible casino and sportsbook offering to compete because you can have all the money in the world or a comprehensive customer base. Still, if your product is inferior to your competitors, it won’t be long before punters migrate elsewhere.

Can you tell us about your plans for expansion in Latin America?

This won’t come as any surprise, but we are proactively looking to bolster are sales team in the region and we may consider putting one or more local offices in the region in the coming year.

Focus Gaming News: Interview With Digitain’s Sales Team Manager, Hamest Safaryan

23 June 2023 / Interviews

Hamest Safaryan: “Digitain’s culture is to put our partners and people at the centre of everything we do”.

How are you preparing for both LatAm shows?

Digitain has an extensive trade show events attendance calendar for 2023. Our teams travel many thousands of miles annually, so preparation is essential to ensure a smooth journey for our team, the equipment and the booth build.

As we have been doing these roadshows for many years, we are used to the challenges some of which we can’t control such as air travel interruptions or delays for example, so we always ensure early arrival to meet with show organisers, planners for the booth construction etc.

Our team very much looks forward to the shows, as it is about people, and Digitain’s culture is to put our partners and people at the centre of everything we do. So we are excited to meet with our existing partners, welcome new partners to our booth and discuss their business requirements and how the whole Digitain family can support and exceed their goals for that market.

SiGMA Americas is going to LatAm with all its international experience. What do you expect to see in each event?

SiGMA is a great brand, they have always been and continue to be super organised with both attendees and exhibitors. We expect good attendance, great content streams, and of course networking events. The networking events are super important, for people to get to know one another, and how they look at the challenge and develop an adaptable solution. It’s people that deliver the solutions, and that is a core value of Digitain.

What are the company’s goals for the expo? What are your expectations in terms of meeting with clients and potential deals?

As an established sportsbook and igaming platform solutions provider with over 150 international partners, we are somewhat in a good position that the brand is known, with high levels of trust, reliability and code stability and of deliverability and support services of our technology solutions.

This means our inquiry pipeline is already strong in terms of booth meetings, and of course, we always welcome walk-ups whom our team shall be very happy to meet. From an expectations perspective, it is to meet partners and new partners alike, deals take time, and Digitain is with you at every step of that journey in selecting your future technology partner.

“We are somewhat in a good position that the brand is known, with high levels of trust, reliability and code stability.”

What products are you most eager to showcase? Do you have any specific products for different countries in LatAm?

For this specific show, we are lucky to showcase many in-house products that our partners shall find suitable for the Peru market, especially for the Latam market. A complete omnichannel platform solution with different verticals and a sportsbook API solution with customisation are available to discuss at our booth E120.

What assessment do you make about the current situation in Brazil regarding sports betting regulation?

Digitain as an organisation fully supports regulation and multi-jurisdictional licensing regimes. These frameworks are exceptionally important in the supply chain, and foremostly to protect the end players.

Of course, regulation takes time with policymakers, but you only must look at the great success of the USA, whereby legal sports betting has expanded on the state-by-state level. This has provided employment, tax dollars, and consumer protection to citizens.

What are the major challenges when building a sports betting platform?

As a business, we have invested heavily both financially and in people to create solutions, build out those solutions, and support services. This investment doesn’t end when you have a market-ready product, it continues, it evolves.

Perhaps the major challenges are on the front end. Simply today’s digital players, want a more one-2-one or personalised service, that appeals to the local market and end players betting interests.

Digitain’s robust platform which supports multiple languages and local currencies allows LatAm gaming operators/partners to reach the widest local audience and if required cross-border audience as possible.

Players’ appetite for deeper digital personalised experiences from sports betting brands will continue at a faster pace. Our solution facilitates this much-needed localisation. On the front end, dynamic CMS at each touch point in the marketing funnel allows partners personalized experiences to test user journeys, with more relevancy and authenticity within the critical moments of the new players’ onboarding lifecycle within the platform.

“Simply today’s digital players, want a more one-2-one or personalised service.”

The Latin American market is going through an exponential expansion, what is Digitain’s biggest challenge in this scenario?

We as a business organization view challenges as opportunities to deliver solutions, we are an ideas and solutions company.

Therefore, we have already expanded our sales and customer success teams for LatAm, along with more localization on the front end, look and feel, betting markets and promotions, to the back end in terms of payments and our Paydrom payment gateway.

For sure we are an internal business, but we act and think locally, and work alongside our partners to deliver local market needs and requirements. This will allow our business to grow in LatAm and our partners’ businesses to grow.
